City & Guilds Level 5 Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety Practice
The Level 5 Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety Practice has been designed for people who have an autonomous role in their organisation for managing health and safety policy and practice. They should report directly to or be part of the senior management team. They should recommend and implement changes relevant to their role and be aware of cost implications and budgetary control. Typical roles include Health and Safety Manager, Health and Safety Advisor or equivalent.
It is a vocational qualification with no formal examinations. Learners provide written narrative statements with documented supporting evidence of their practical application of occupational health and safety management techniques, to satisfy the requirements of industry-recognised standards. The standards are split in units, each of which covers different health and safety management techniques.
Learners are expected to achieve the qualification within 12-18 months and will receive support for up to two years.
On completion of the qualification, learners will receive a City & Guilds certificate.

How can I achieve?
Balancing life and work can be difficult, which is why we offer this as an alternative to academic qualifications. Vocational qualifications assess the application of practical skills and knowledge in the workplace, rather than being classroom and exam-based.
NVQ
Accredited by City & Guilds, competency-based qualifications are one of the most popular methods of progression with learners and employers as they demonstrate an individual’s ability to carry out work-related tasks.
Why do an NVQ?
-
It is an accredited competency-based qualification, created using nationally defined occupational standards
-
Flexible and compatible with your work and personal circumstances
-
Perfect for people unable to take time out of the workplace to attend a course
-
Assessment of practical skills and application of knowledge
-
No formal examinations
